We are very happy to report two sightings of stag beetles this week in two of our community gardens: Frank Banfield Park and Godolphin Gardens.
Our small but dedicated team of volunteers at Godolphin Gardens continues to look after the space and support local wildlife.
Recently, the Get Out There team built a stag beetle log pile in the gardens after some stag beetles were spotted on site. Log piles provide an important habitat for stag beetles, particularly for their larvae, which spend several years developing in the decaying wood.
The sightings and the new log pile have both been recorded as part of The Great Stag Hunt, a nationwide survey helping to build a better picture of where stag beetles are found and how they can be supported.
