Photography Course Celebrates 40 Years of HCGA

HCGA has partnered with the Photojournalism Hub to deliver a free course in documentary photography as part of our 40th Anniversary celebration.

Course lead Cinzia D’Ambrosi said “From the very first day, it was a delightful experience to conduct the workshops with this group because of their eagerness and enthusiasm to learn about photography and visual narrative. By the final week, many  participants were confidently describing their edits using photography jargon, demonstrating a significant leap in their understanding and skills within a short period.”

The participants explored core themes central to the Hammersmith Community Gardens Association’s work. Their photo series explored topics such as conservation, nature, community garden management, as well as the contemplation of lines, perspectives, colours, and the relationship of nature with oneself.  The course offered a creative space for participants to explore interests they had longed to pursue but hadn’t had the time or confidence to try.

The final step in the project is the production of a digital magazine that will allow everyone in the HCGA family to appreciate and celebrate their accomplishments.
