The Penfold Age Well Centre

The Penfold Age Well Centre began in 2019 to give local residents without access to their own outdoor space the chance to take part in a community food‑growing project. The initiative was originally created by Notting Hill Genesis Housing Association and delivered by HCGA. In February 2023, Housing 21 took over management of the Penfold Age Well Centre from Notting Hill Genesis.

Residents and local people now help care for the beautiful garden, growing a variety of flowers, fruit, vegetables, and herbs to share among the group. We also run nature-inspired drama, art and craft sessions in partnership with Dende Collective.

As well as increasing access to fresh produce, the project helps reduce social isolation, supports physical and mental wellbeing, and gives people the opportunity to learn new skills and spend time in nature.

The gardening club is open to anyone aged 50 and over and meets every Thursday from 10:00 am to 12 noon.
