Nature, Environment and Sustainability

Our work helps restore nature, increase biodiversity and create greener, healthier neighbourhoods. Through our award-winning gardens, growing spaces and education programmes, we demonstrate practical ways that communities can care for the environment and reduce their impact.

We create habitats for wildlife, improve air quality and help cool urban areas by planting and maintaining green spaces. We incorporate regenerative growing methods where possible to demonstrate more sustainable approaches to food production, propagate plants from seed at Ravenscourt Park Glasshouses to supply our school gardens, and choose pollinator and wildlife friendly planting schemes. We have a volunteer-led Wildlife Working Group which has undertaken activities such as wildlife surveys and responding to the public consultation for The Greater London Authority’s Local Nature Recovery Strategy.

We are committed to reducing our own environmental impact by always using peat-free compost, avoiding herbicides and pesticides, reusing and recycling materials wherever possible, harvesting rainwater to irrigate our gardens, and using an electric van to transport materials and equipment.

Through our educational sessions for schools and adults, we raise awareness of environmental challenges and empower people with practical knowledge and skills to make more sustainable choices.
