A Beautiful Day at Chelsea Flower Show with our School Gardeners
Poppy Gagiatsou, one of our School Gardeners, received a special invitation to Chelsea Flower Show to explore the gardens and take part in fun activities with children from her school gardening group from St Augustine’s Primary School.
The Princess of Wales @princeandprincessofwales joined the RHS’s first ever children’s picnic, which aims to inspire the next generation of gardeners. We were so happy to chat with her and find out what Prince Louis has been growing at their home and answer questions about our very own school garden.
Silver Gilt medal winning designer @darrenhawkeslandscapes showed us around his wonderful show garden, The Listening Garden, that he designed for @samaritanscharity He talked to us in detail about the Samaritans, listening and creating safe spaces for everyone. He gave us an interesting tutorial and we were encouraged to design our own garden.
We also visited @markgregorylandscaper ‘s food inspired #SavillsGarden , another Silver Gilt medal winning garden, where we tasted edible flowers.
We politely interrupted the Chelsea Pensioners whilst they were having their lunch and they were more than happy to see us and share their pudding!
At the Royal Entomological Society @royentsoc #RESGarden, (another Silver Gilt medal winner) designed by @tommasseyuk @project.giving.back we enjoyed an insect eye’s view of the scenery and studied garden insects under the microscope.
We continued our walkabout, stopping at many places. We sampled the most delicious biscuits by @britishbakeoff ’s @brionymaybakes , spoke to more designers as well as doing some celebrity spotting- legend @linford_christie We ended a most wonderful day with some cake and a lovely goody bag from @the_rhs
What an amazing visit! Thank you Princess of Wales @princeandprincessofwales for coming to picnic with us and @the_rhs and it’s volunteers who treated us like VIPs and made it an unforgettable day for every one of us 🌸🌻🌿🌳
