Core Blimey – Community Orchard for White City Estate

Volunteers from Hammersmith Community Gardens ‘Get Out There!’ team and local residents will be helping plant up a small community orchard in the green space in front of Mackay House (opposite the entrance to QPR football stadium) on Friday December 11th.

The project that is part of the lottery funded Big Local project will include a mixture of apple and pear trees including a new variety ‘Core Blimey’ a new London apple that was propagated by the Urban Orchard Project.

Project co-ordinator Liz Clarke said ‘This is just one activity we are working across the White City Estate and Wormholt wards to initiate small green projects. We are always looking to get more residents involved so do contact us if you have any ideas about how your neighbourhood could be improved!’
